I added most of the locations to the USA County Verifier. Census areas should be in the USA County Verifier. How are you entering the location? Don't add "Census Area" or other designation for that area - just enter the name. You can confirm that they're in the USA County Verifier by looking at

You could still enter that geographic description in the county area. Even if you decided to leave the county area blank, you should then add a note providing the specific information. You didn't state when your son was married in Alaska but I would assume that it was post Alaskan statehood.
