I have found that this bug is caused by the Mac OS Extended Journaled File
System. I have several other crashes apparently caused by the same or related
problems.

I just discovered that the crash left behind a temp file in the directory for
these documents. It was empty, but before I deleted it, I captured some details
in case they are of interest.

I had 21 documents open to which I had been applying the same styles edit
