I'd also be very interested in steps 5, 6 and 7 described by Kieren. I usually heavily edit velocities (among other things) and making even minor changes in the source material (the midi) is a pain. The closest I've gotten to making the process slightly less tedious is is writing a lua script for

About four years ago, I did almost all, if not all of your listed steps with Lilypond and Ardour. I wrote a multi-voice score in Lilypond, converted the score to MIDI, loaded this MIDI into Ardour, and then assigned the various MIDI voices to various synthesis plugins. The process did include

That workflow would depend on the DAW, not lilypond. For the automatic "synchronization" you're suggesting in step 7, the DAW would have to actively monitor a midi file for changes. Lilypond has nothing to do with that. As a workaround, if the DAW allows re-importing the midi file without

Aloha. Pls let me know if this discussion should continue elsewhere.  I use Logic X and Sibelius.  Having discovered LP recently, it solves the basic song-writing problem (for me) of entering lyrics and melody much more easily than either of those tools.  I understand that LP will export midi but

Hi David, > There may be incentive to synchronize the contents of those files. Yes, that’s the part I’m currently most interested in: synchronizing a Lilypond input file (or set of files) with a DAW file (or set of files) via a MIDI file (or set of files). At the very least, I’d like to hear

Hello all, The subject says it all: I’d like to figure out the present state-of-the-art when it comes to working with Lilypond and a DAW "simultaneously", and discuss what the next steps might be towards improving whatever that situation is. Thanks! Kieren.
