On a related topic to watering lawns which are now mostly brown, Ive
noticed many unmown pollinator meadows on residential plots which were set
aside this spring. They are looking pretty good! Could some of you email
me off line to share and discuss the nitty gritty details?

Thanks, Sara. I agree. Its very important for us in Lincoln to take care
of our water supply.
Water will be increasingly precious with climate change, and we all have a
role to play in conserving water in times of draught for both people and
wildlife. Grass will come back after browning off.
But Lincoln has always been under the “ watchful “ eye/ in the crosshairs of
DEP for our draw down. We were, at one time, under a consent decree.
Perhaps we still are.
We need to be ever- vigilant and understand that to maintain our independence
from MWRA we need to strictly limit our

Yes! I live at Oriole Landing, and they don’t know about it. I was thinking the
same thing. How would you know if you’re not on Lincoln Talk? All of the people
taking 5 minute showers while others are watering their lawns still. Thanks for
bringing it up.

Many of our neighboring towns use water from the Quabbin Reservoir via the
MWRA. The towns that I know of off the top of my head are Weston, Lexington,
Framingham, and I think Waltham but I’m not sure. That section of the state is
not in drought and the Quabbin Reservoir can provide quite a bit
I have been following Lincoln Talk about the newest ban on watering due to
our severe drought. So I know what the rules are. However there are
people living in town who don’t subscribe to either the Squirrel or Lincoln
Talk.
Today I spoke to a neighbor who knew nothing about the watering ban.
Good idea Sara!

Hi Diana,
It's great that you've grown so attached to Henrietta! Feeding wildlife can
cause a lot of problems for them, including increased aggression, disease,
and malnutrition (this is especially true of feeding them human food like
potato chips, which can make them very sick). Here is a link

Rerouting water from sinks, washing machines, showers and tubs does not seem to
be impossible.
If you are concerned about the chemicals in washing detergents, limited the

Here is an article from UCal on using 'wash-cycle' water from your laundry
washing. Note that this is different from using 'rinse cycle' water.
