Regarding using reverse 911, I would rather not risk crying wolf too often for what I would call a serious situation and not a public emergency. If used every time the drought conditions changed, people might stop checking their voice messages. For examples of more relevant reasons to use reverse

At the emergency meeting this past Friday, the Water Commissioners and attendees discussed a reverse 911 to inform Lincoln residents about the drought situation. It was decided that this mode of communication should be reserved for emergencies requiring immediate action (water main breaks etc.).

I have been following Lincoln Talk about the newest ban on watering due to our severe drought. So I know what the rules are. However there are people living in town who don’t subscribe to either the Squirrel or Lincoln Talk. Today I spoke to a neighbor who knew nothing about the watering ban.
