I go to school at Umass Lowell and I’d recommend Mill No.5! It’s had a lot of
cute shops, a movie theatre, an art gallery and yoga studio upstairs. When you
walk in it’s really cool because it’s designed to look a street with different
store fronts. Boot Cotton Mills Museum might be fun to
Dear Lincoln,
Thank you so much to everyone who took time to respond. I have a long list
of suggestions (about 20!) to pass along. I was counting on you for advice
and you delivered! Thank you!
Best regards,

Also, I forgot to mention that they could travel the French King Highway and
cross the French King Bridge!

Naturally, it depends what they like. Having said that, in Lowell, I
highly recommend the boat tour of the canals. Here in Lincoln, the
DeCordova is beyond compare. On the North Shore, Halibut Point is an all
time fav. Back in the city, to the best of my knowledge, the Mapparium is

A French family, visiting Massachusetts for a week at the end of July, has
asked us for help with itinerary decisions
Walden Pond, (of course!!).
If they go to Salem, MA (as someone else suggested), head onward from there
to Cape Ann - Rockport/Gloucester
And, the shires . . . Tanglewood !

An interesting bit of history a French family might be interested in.
There's a plaque on the wall upstairs at the Union Oyster House about the
French king who roomed there when in exile back in the 1790's.

I highly recommend a narrated(if they understand English!) boat trip around the
Boston Harbor - full of history and interesting facts. Also, if they read
Little Women - the Abbott home.
Enjoy!

The Concord Museum for its excellent interactive display of the start of the
revolution followed, of course, by a walk on the North Bridge. Teens and adults
will marvel over it—so will all of you on Lincoln Talk!

Historically speaking, I think teens would prefer a visit to Salem over
Plymouth. Some good restaurants there, too. I Recommend a side trip to Harbor
Sweets chocolate factory and Salem Willows, as well as a walk in neighboring
Marblehead to The Point overlooking harbor.

A French family, visiting Massachusetts for a week at the end of July, has
asked us for help with itinerary decisions. The family (includes two
teenage children) is looking to add some quieter, less hectic days in their
three week New England tour. They propose alternate itineraries that
