I seem to have a problem with telneting to my machine (running RH5.2) -
sometime, I think that after I lose connection abrupty (i.e. my modem
disconnects with no prior notice) while logged in as root, I seem to lose
access to the root account - I always get the 'login incorrect' message.
will someone remind me why sometimes Lilo hangs while booting , and I get
the following output instead of - "lilo:" :
l 04 04 04 04 04 04 ... and continues like that until I reboot.
I'm using RH5.1 on a P75. lilo is installed on /dev/hda which is 420MB
(WDC AC2420) and linux is booting from

Actually, until recently I've been a Mandrake user, and I can't say bad
things of it - the Installation program is great, and it lets you configure
almost everything before the system boots the first time. if you want to
update a mandrake system, it will load and keep all of your configuration
I'm a happy imapd user, and I see no problem with
it - it actually requires no configuration. it does all of it's auth through
PAM, which you can use to auth through any kind of module you can think of, and
the only other thing that you might want to configure is the users home dir and
ect to any of the Mandrake 7.2 boxes - I always get a 'protocol
initlisation error'. the other clients are working fine , of course. what
gives ?

All linux distros I know come with both a mail server and a mail access
daemons for both pop3 and imap (I whole heartedly suggest the later over the
former).
But since most do come with sendmail, and it is a pain to configure (if you
want to master all its switches and options , you need to read
ahmm.. don't think so :-)
