Which daily did you try?
The Lubuntu daily Live image from June 21 booted (with the typical
video and snd boot parameters) and ran fine on my Dual 1.25 GHz MDD.
To save CDs, I boot from a USB flash stick. Maybe you just got a bad
burn.

Please have a look at this page, where I have tried to add my experience
to the original text (at the page without /JasonOdoom). If you compare
the pages in web browser windows it is easier to see the differences
than comparing the sources (but do both if you want to find all details).
