I've adopted and updated the PKGBUILD merkaartor-git on AUR:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/merkaartor-git/
This way, Arch Linux users can build an up-to-date GIT version easily.

to hide the menu bar button labels. This would make the toolbar take less space
on screen. The icons already are self explaining and there also is a tooltip
with the button label on them.

I didn't check RC2, but I checked out from GIT just a few minutes ago.
For me, area editing is completely broken:
- If I select a point from an area and use Break, then the Merkaartor moves
one line of the area to somewhere far far away which makes it impossible to
reconnect the Area

If I download a part of the map, I want to edit, and also fetch Raw GPS
data, then I have to wait several minutes as Merkaartor's XML parsing
seems to take pretty long.
Whily trying to create my way after this, Merkaartor crashed with

edit, then the tracks are downloaded, but I don't see my waypoints. To
