I just completed a search for alpha codes for birds. The link in my
Favorites was dead and so were several of the URLs I got from Google. I also
searched all over the AOU website to no effect. I finally found a table on the
USGS website. Click on species list. It opens a giant
Two nights ago I located three singing boreal owls in northern Lake
County, the first time I've heard that many in one night in many years.
Unfortunately, none could be relocated last night, but they are likely on
territories and will sing again in the next few weeks. One was located about
The Horned Grebe in Hennepin County was seen from the observation deck at Old
Cedar Ave Bridge this morning the posted Bass Ponds was incorrect, I was at
both locations and entered the wrong location by mistake.

Earlier this morning I observed a basic plumage Horned Grebe out from the
observation deck of the MVNWR ~ Bass Ponds in Bloomington, Hennepin Co. With
Long Meadow Lake mostly open along the Refuge I have enjoyed a variety of 18
species of ducks funneling in and out daily. Large flocks of
70 Bohemian waxwings in Wrenshall right now. Right on CR1 at south end of town

There is still one adult male snowy owl present in SW Dodge Co. Seen on or
near 700th St. between 110th and 120th Avenues.

John Richardson posted a picture of what appears to to be a first-year male
BRAMBLING on the Minnesota Birding facebook page. He is familiar with the
species from the UK.
I'll try to post any updates as they come in.
