This afternoon, during a walk through Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park,
Anoka County, we spotted our first-of-season Northern Shrike. It was
perched in a small tree along the west shore of Cenaiko Lake, near
Pavilion 4.
We also saw our FOS White-crowned Sparrows southwest of Cenaiko Lake.

Earlier this morning I walked a large grassland at the Lamberton WMA in south
east Redwood county in search of Smith’s Longspurs and I was fortunate to find
a number of them (I estimated at least 30). The area that I searched is a
grassland that has been mowed by the DNR recently and it’s
