I think that you had forgotten to configure a valid DNS or your DNS is not
working OK.
I had the same problem at the first time but then I would decide to change
to another DNS and then everything went right.

compiliing and installing it from a .tar.gz. Instead use a RPM from here:

You have to use winzip first and then winrar.

In answer to Oves question, I telnet in using both linux and w98 machines,
w98 works ok for the limited work I do through telnet.

I would strongly recommend against using lnx4win to install on a windows
98 partition if thius is what you have in mind. The install and
operation of linux are slow and very painful. YOu are much better
off installing and running on a separare partition. If you aren't
familiar with this,

This is one way, but supposedly more things work if it can fake it into being a
scsi device. Try the /dev/sd0 approach first.
If you decide to not have it be an emulated scsi you will have to fix
/etc/lilo.conf and rerun lilo.

First try "rpm -Uvh netcape72blahblah.rpm" for both files.
If that doesn't work, try "rpm -Uvh --force netscape72blahblah.rpm" for both
files.
And if it still says it's having conflicts, then do "rpm -e
netscape-communicator" and "rpm -e netscape-common"

Easier to just buy a $3 9 to 25pin converter, switch cables on MB and put mouse
on converter.
Don't put modem on converter, they are usually pinned for just a mouse and modems
won't work.
Or don't switch cables, just fix mouse in all places that require it...
