As far as I know, unless you write some kind of script, there is no easy
way to change just the permissions on the directories without affecting the
files under each directory. The only way to do so, would be to change each
directory by hand (using chmod / chown). As for files, that

I tried Mandrake 7.2 and had a few problems with it.
I had a friend burn the two cd's for 8.0 and the
install was a piece of cake, though I did not install
the XFree 4.0 I used 3.3.6. For the other questions
I'm really a DUHH on those sorry.

I (Mandrake) was able to install my ps2 mouse, with wheel support during
a regular installation of LM 8 on my desktop machine. It took a great deal
of time for the install prog to 'sense' and configure the mouse. Actually
around 2 minutes of continual, gentle movement of the mouse,

I was thinking of experimenting with the included 3.3.6 X-server to see
whether it'd solve any of my current video problems (as reported in other
posts :). I am presently using 4.0.3 w/3D support for my 3dfx Banshee in LM8.
So I went into the video section of the Mandrake Control
