did you do a fdisk /mbr before reinstalling windows? this removes lilo from the master boot record, which is necessary if you are going to have a windows drive again. if lilo still shows up as you said, it has to be removed. boot with a windows98 boot floppy and at the prompt type : A:\fdisk
