untar the file with tar xvfz linux-ar-405.tar.gz or use the Archiver
under XWindows.
change to the path where it is installed. With tar it installs it to
a subdir in ur current dir.
type ./INSTALL and the install will start.
There is a default installation dir. U can change it but
If you are running 7.1 then the Adobe Reader is installed during
installation of 7.1
