man, I'm having almost the same problem with my Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 PCI I can hear wav's (now, didn't before) can play mp3s on xmms, can hear startup wav, but as for midi's I get this window when I browse to a site that has midi's playing: " OPEN /dev/sequencer: no such device

3) "know if my kernel is compiled with version information?" This one I'm not sure about as far as Linux Mandrake goes, but usually the kernel is compiled with version information turned on. It refers to the modules being marked with what version of the kernel source they were compiled
