Tried to install 7.1 but didn't get passed "initializing CDrom" before the
deadly "Transsocket" message appeared.
(Am using SiS 6326 card). And yet, Mandrake 6 worked well on my machine.
Tried the "Linux text" entry but got lost.
Somewhere I read there is a bug in the graphic install mode
yes, and in many different combinations of resolution and color modes.
maybe it's the combination of card and monitor that i have. you said
that
you're using a 17" Komodo. are you also running mandrake 6.5? as i said,
i had no problems running 6.0 with the same hardware. ;)

i am installing mandrake 6.5. all goes well until i specify monitor
resolution. at testing x configuration, i get the "do you see this
message" "yes or no" screen, but i just can't read the question. if i
