ou can use the
flash in the auto mode with no compensation except that flash to subject
distances would be reduced. I haven't had very good results with this setup
as yet. How do I best use this setup to get the best results? Anyone out
there in Nikonland have a clue? I could use some help.

hotography (at least Nikon photography) is becoming the province of the
rich and famous. I think the whole thing is getting out of hand. Maybe I
should have stuck with Minolta, at least I could afford their lenses,
quality notwithstanding.

far as manuals go I highly recommend the Magic Lantern Guide for the

to their website and they say that they do not have a retail store. Is the
store in Dallas associated with them or is it just a coincidence they share
the same name? Thanks for any information.

Just a casual inquiry as to why there's no 35mm f/1.4 AF or AF D lenses?? I
think this would be the perfect available light travel lens? Guess I'll
have to settle for the 35mm F/2 AF D.

I too was faced with the question of what gear to take on a similar
vacation. My wife and I are going on a Southern Caribbean cruise in April.
I really don't want to take my F5 for a few reasons: I'll be constantly
worried that it'll get stolen/damaged while I'm preoccupied with other
things
A friend of mine has a similar problem with AF hunting and lack
of sharpness for his Tamron zoom on the F-100. His Nikon lenss
work great. His camera store said that they can make some adjustment
to the Tamron lens.

I'm suffering from the same problem
I had this problem when I went into a butterfly attraction. It was
a warm, humid enclosed structure to make the butterflies happy
and productive but until the camera warmed up to the inside temperature
it was useless. I brought it to the men's room and put it under the hand
drier.

A colleague of mine recently had his camera stolen. The insurance
company is offering a choice of replacement bodies. These include a
Nikon F60 or an F70. Recent discussions on the list would suggest that
an F70 may not be a smart move in view of its confusing user interface.

All the goodies that this camera has to offer is locked behind that

norman,
i recently upgraded from an N90s to an F5 and i am loving it!! if i
were going to upgrade i would either get rid of the N90s or the F4 and
get an F5. i would base which one to keep on which one i liked better.
i prefer the N90s for it's electronic interface (easier to switch back
I bought a used but mint 300mm f4 AF/ED at a local camera show here in North
Jersey. This lens did not have a filter in the 39mm drawer when I bought
it. . . .
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post re: my filter problem. From
everyone's feedback I can deduce the following:

i had a similar problem with pete's photo world in cinci ohio. i
had already invested in several thousands of nikon gear and was thinking
about the F5. i wanted to feel it in my hands, see if the AF was all it
was cracked up to be, and just see if it was something i would be
interested in.

I had an N70 for two years and hated it. The controls were an un-intuitive
nightmare! I once took it to a reunion along with my tripod to take a few
group portraits. Unfortunately I didn't bring the user manual and couldn't
figure out how to use the self-timer. Now wouldn't you think

Talking to my Nikon dealer today. He, also the owner, said he was told by Nikon
that the F100 might be cut significantly into the F5 sales. He also was told that
Nikon may not keep the F5 around much longer.

i too had that problem with the strobe. i don't know why Nikon
discon. the 26, but i think the 26 is a MUCH better strobe. i would
(and did) take the 28 back, and find a 26. i found one that had been a
floor model (no box or leather pouch thing) and got it for $200!!
hope this helps,
Merry Christmas everybody!
I would just like to ask everybody who has the luck to hold the F100 in his
hands, if the back of the camera is detachable, which means that there will
be sometime in the future the option of adding a data-back.
And also, I would like to ask if there is a way to clean
