At about noon, I had two sightings of an adult in Massapequa Preserve, perched
and in flight along the west trail, first opposite Jerusalem Avenue, then a
short distance to the south.

I'm looking at an adult Red-shouldered Hawk in my yard in almost the same exact
place one was last February. I'm willing to bet it's the same one. Cool.

A Red-shouldered Hawk was just seen perched in a tree in my backyard. I
looked out the bay window while the computer was starting up and there the
hawk was, ever so beautiful and elegant if I must say so. After a few
minutes in flew off towards the open field.

Right now I have a gorgeous adult Red-shouldered hawk in my yard for the first
time. What a beautiful bird! Amazingly the birds at the feeders don't seem to
alarmed, I guess they know that these hawks eat mostly rodents.

Late yesterday afternoon an adult Red-shouldered Hawk was seen soaring
low over the Shoreham/Wading R. area (near the Cooper Av sod fields),
slowly drifting eastward in light NW winds. Otherwise, signs of
migration were light, with a few warbler species locally and a small
movement of flickers
