Please enable the okular debug areas in `kdebugdialog`.
Then start okular from a terminal and try to print, then attach here the whole
log you get.

btw print emails with kontact works fine.

@Harald: As an alternative to dual-booting, I've found that Foxit PDF Reader
works great under Wine. I just wrote some instructions on how to set it up
under Ubuntu:

Well it did work with acroread for example.
I am sorry, but I cannot test with that HP printer as I have no access to it at
the moment.
