If you are looking for the low beam bulbs any FLAPS, WalMart, etc will have
them. Stock were 4001, you can now find halogen replacements in the same
physical size that put out more light. Look for a H4001.

Your new 12 volt fuel gauge requires a matching sender. The original sender is
30 ohms full and zero ohms empty. Your new gauge MAY require such a sender, or
it may require a sender with around 240 ohms empty and 33 ohms full, 12 ohms

Air in the line will make the gauge react slowly, both while pressure is
increasing and decreasing. Steady state reading should be correct after a
while. How long is a while? Depends on temperature, how much air, size of

I looked through the GMC Master Parts Book that covers 55-59 and it shows that
turn signals were options. If you don't have them you have a shallow cup that
covers the back side of the steering wheel hub. I assume (bad word) that
Chevies were the same. If someone has access to the 55-59
Before I'd start down this path I would make sure that
1.Battery to starter and battery to ground cables were proper 6 volt
cables, 00 wire size (sometimes known as 2/0, but definitely NOT 2 gauge) or
larger.
2.Battery to ground cable connected directly to the engine block,
Don't plan to drive out the old stud with the steering arm still attached to
the truck. Remove the arm and support it with something stout. Then apply
the BFH.

If your new thermostat doesn't have it already, drill a small hole (1/8 will
do) in the flat area of the flange of the thermostat. This will allow air to

One connection (I don't know which one) on the gauge should have 6 volts on it
when the key is on. If neither does you'll need to find out where the missing
6 volts are.
If you find one with 6 volts, remove the other wire from the gauge. Does the
gauge now read full when the key is on? If

My 12 volt '57 GMC sender (same part number as used on 55.2-59 Chevy trucks) is
a 30 ohm unit. Converting to 12 volts does not inherently change the procedure
listed below. If your gauge has not been modified for 12 volt operation you
