frequent. I attribute some of that to the same sort of planned failure
that we see in crumple zones, etc. It is a very significant load on an
anchor point to stop an adult body in motion as these systems do. In

axle, but no upper frame shock mounts. There are what could be holes
for an upper mount. I checked into this a while back as well. Never
could find what a stock mount was. Let me know what you find if anything.

My 53 3800 panel rolled over 80,000 original miles today.
Was fun watching it hit all those 0's. At this rate I'll hit 100K in

My '57 235 had a cooling system failure today with a failure of the
freeze or expansion plug that is inconveniently located behind the
exhaust pipe, in-front of the temperature sensor. Anyone know the
correct size, and removal install tips? That's what I get for
thoroughly cleaning the system when
I found this to be the case with my 57 235 as well. I went with a heli
coil insert in the front cap and a smaller bolt to hold the timing
cover. That worked fine, and I hope I'll never have to drop the pan
for that reason again at least.

I recently replaced mine with a new timing gear set. The fiber gear
had failed. If your gear is still OK simply pull the whole camshaft
out after removing the rocker arms, pushrods and lifters. With that
all out of the way, the cam will simply slide out. There are two

Coolant is leaking completely from what seems to be the bottom of my
water pump. This occurs as soon as I add water to the radiator and it
fills. Haven't pulled it yet, and fortunately the failure occured as I
arrived home a few days ago, so if leaked all over the drive, but
didn't overheat.

Finally received the correct solid lifters for my 57 235... having
received hydraulic ones as earlier noted to the list.
Problem is the profile of these lifters is quite different from those
removed from the engine. These have a slight indent on the side,
roughly 1/16 inch deep.

I've dropped the pan, and removed the front gear cover.
Distributor, coil, breather pipe off tomorrow.
Then on to the rocker arm assembly, which I assume is next, then the
side cover, push rods and lifters. Am I missing anything else?

All you need do is strap it to a pallet, and take it to a freight
company depot... off it goes. No need to crate. Try Forward Air, I've
used them for a variety of odd big stuff, and they are cheap and
