Hi, When I installed a '57 261 in my '51 3100 many years ago, I ran into the same problem with the radiator and fan. I had ordered a new (std, not desert cooler) radiator from either Harmon's or Chevy Duty, can't remember which. Had the rad for about a year before I tried to install it.

I modified my fan to fit in. I carefully ground off each blade what was needed (I even needed to grind more off because I put a 2 groove harmonic balancer in my 261 and it definitely hit the fan). Then I balanced the fan to make sure I wouldn't have any weird vibrations (I saw a fan blade let go
