I get this as well. I can run netbeans OK when using my laptops built in
intel card, but when switching to the (also built in!) nvidia card with
the proprietary drivers I get the described crash consistently.
@Craig: are you using the proprietary nvidia drivers as well when you
get the crash? In
If it matters I am using the nvidia-current drivers here version 280.13

Ok - peeking into your attached log attests that you are indeed using
the proprietary nvidia drivers version 270.30. I see exactly the same
behavior with v 280.13. But everything is smooth sailing when I am using

#745271 which is due to some bug in nvidia's glXChooseVisual() method in
libGL.so I believe.

(which appears unrelated) I discovered that running Netbeans under sudo
makes things work again - needless to say this is not a sustainable
solution... But could work for searching souls while we wait for a
fix...
