could somebody help me on how to implement a filter with C++ in Paraview, which
is capable of reacting on external events by invalidating itself, so that next
time when a frame is rendered, the filter (and the dependent pipeline parts if
any) get(s) reexecuted. I mainly need it for

I don't pretend to know all the ways to enter, or the easiest
way to enter point-based stress tensors, however, I do know two
ways to do this:
(1) Using the VTK XML-based format, see file

ParaView StreamTracer works only on 3-components arrays, not 6-components
array.
You will need to convert your tensors into a vectors before being able to
use it with the StreamTracer.
