[Paraview] How does Paraview calculate the velocity gradient

2017-08-23 Thread HongchaoWang
Hi, How does Paraview calculate the velocity gradient if I use filter "gradient of unstructured data set"? And what is the difference between using cell data and point data as input? For my case I am simulating an oscillatory flow inside a narrow channel, I would like to obtain the

[Paraview] Can I set textures for Glyph?

Hi, For a Sphere filter it is possible to set its texture with TextureMaptoSphere. I was wondering if the same thing could be done for Glyph filters? In particular spherical glyphs. In the Properties menu of Glyph the Texture option is grayed out. Using a TextureMaptoSphere on a Glyph does

Can you share a sample dataset? That'll make it easier. Thanks Utkarsh On Tue, Aug 22, 2017 at 6:06 PM, Niaz M. via ParaView wrote: > Hello: > I am exporting Fluent simulation results as Ensight gold case. Then > importing in paraview. Then I am plotting a slice . I am

Hi Andrew: Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes I have figure it out CGNS works best so far when you want to export from Fluent. But one think I miss the boundary name (or ID) in CGNS. Fluent doesn't write that info when you export as CGNS . It only export fluid domain. I am a newbie in

Hi Cory, It works perfectly. I can use paraview 5.3 version without any problem (I can use it as I normally do). The problem results when executing the python script from the Ubuntu's terminal. Thank you very much. ASAP I will try to install the v5.3 and I will let you know if I

Guillermo, I'm sorry that my suggestions didn't work out. Could you try one last thing? Please run the following commands: cd /opt/ParaView-5.3.0-Qt5-OpenGL2-MPI-Linux-64bit/bin ./paraview That should work without problem. If it doesn't, we definitely have a problem. Cheers, Cory On Wed, Aug

Hi Cory, I have made a purge of paraview, reinstalled the 5.3 version, as I indicated on the first email, but the result is the same, it does not work and the message is the same as in the beginning. Also, the libs you indicated to me are not present. Actually, I really need to use this

hmm, reading the vtkEllipsoidalGaussianKernel documentation, it seems it is not suitable for my purpose after all. Not possible to achieve constant weight inside the sampling cylinder. Also the use of word "normal" in the documentation confuses me, e.g.: "z is the distance of the current voxel

Hello, Niaz. I also noticed the same problem in some cases with export from Fluent. I suspect that Fluent write files incorrectly, as if every cell was a separate domain. It explains why ParaView becomes very slow with such files and why we cannot remove mesh lines from representation. Sorry,
