A history question

... but the new HD PENTAX-FA 50mmF1.4 looks like it has improved image rendering over the older FA and its ancestors. And without going the extra “star” or “limited” route for improved imaging. IOW, it looks like “good” became “very good” without much effort via coating (a must), diaphragm,
