Whenever I try to install version 8.3 on w2k, using an existing windows account
, the installer returns the error Invalid username specified: A required
privilege is not held by the client.
I have since installed version 8.2 successfully, using the same account that
failed with the 8.3
Were you ever able to install PostgreSQL on windows 2000? I am having similar
problems on 2000 Pro and have absolutely zero luck with it.

1.) you should prefer windows 2003 for your first PostgreSQL install
on windows. Installation on Windows 2000 is a lot more challenging.
BTW: main stream support for 2000 by Microsoft ended on 2005-06-30, so
unless you have contracts with MS for extended
