Bug#385115: Chromium BSU sounds/music issue

Could you make that partially completed music available? Perhaps Brian
or Daniel could complete it?

That's fine if you want to go ahead and repackage it, although I do
ask that you make it clear that the distribution has been altered (to
 comply with the Artistic License)

Will do.

I have no idea what search terms I used to find the
sounds... that was a looong time ago and probably something
as simple as 'explosion' :) I actually did create some of
the sounds myself, but I couldn't tell you which ones at
 this point.

Hmm, ok. If you do remember which ones, please let us know so we can
re-add them to the data package.

As a side note, I just went to the partnersinrhyme website
 - they do explicitly say that it's ok to distribute the
 loops in video games:
 http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pir/free_music_loops.shtml
Don't know if that's enough to comply w/ Debian's policy.

Doesn't seem to explicitly allow modification, so I don't think so.

Hi,

First of all, thank you for hunting bugs this way. You seem to have
been looking for them (without encountering them by chance), and that
makes Debian better. :-)

However, in this case you seem to have found a non-bug. ;-)

No, it doesn't. Gettext provides the needed files as a tarball of a cvs
repository. What autopoint does, is to unpack this tarball and use the
repository locally. See /usr/bin/autopoint, from line 420, for what
it does exactly. No network access is attempted.

This would be true if the build would fail without network. Otherwise,
I would agree it would be a bug, but not because of violation of this
rule, since it wouldn't actually _require_ it, just use it.

However, as it is, it isn't a bug at all, since it uses
/usr/share/gettext/archive.tar.gz, which comes from main, not from the
network.

Thanks,
Bas Wijnen

Bug#459449: gamine: should not change of workspace

2008-01-06 Thread lerouge
Subject: gamine: should not change of workspace
Package: gamine
Version: 0.0.1-2
Severity: normal

When using Gamine, a young child is doing large gestures.
If the X environment is setup with several workspaces and wrap workspaces
when the pointer reaches a screen edge, then the mouse pointer goes out
from the current workspace where Gamine is running. And the child is a bit
lost.

Would it be possible to unactivate automatically the wrap workspace option
when Gamine is launched ? A bit like video viewer that stop the
screensaver to run.

I know that the workaround is to unactivate this setting manually before
the child is playing. It just would be easier / quicker (for parents).

Regards,

lerouge

This appears to be a bug in cvs 1:1.12.13-9. Steps to reproduce on mips:

$ mkdir foo
$ cvs -d $(pwd)/foo init
cvs [init aborted]: cannot get working directory: No such file or directory

This seems to be limited to mips/mipsel, it works fine on ppc.

That korg thing looks cool, even runs Linux apparently. According to
their website they distribute the Linux source code on the CD that comes
with it.

However I could make something that would sound more like the loops
that you had with that metal riff, and just donate the loop under the
 appropriate license.

That would be good.

Also, there are other short sounds in the data package (explosions and
stuff) that need replacing, any thoughts on those?

Looks like COPYRIGHT.txt is a bit inconsistent since the
game/software/package is said in two paragraphs to be licensed under v2+
and then v2 only. I'm currently poking upstream about that.

Hm, I thought it was OK because of tolua being in the archive, under the
very same terms. (And yes, I know about embedded code copies, but that's
not the point here.)

I guess that this latter deserves an RC bug?

Bug#385115: Chromium BSU sounds/music issue

2008-01-06 Thread Brian Redfern
Yeah, I have a whole set of sound effects on the oasys, so I can replace
everything with much higher quality sounds with the oasys, and then just
give away my samples under the correct license.

I also have a new system where I could make more metal sounding
music for it, but its the Korg oasys so I would have to give the sound
away for free, but it wouldn't be replicable.
