Package: jetty
Version: 5.1.5rc1-6
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
It would be nice to be able not to start Jetty. I installed the
package to get Jetty's jars (org.mortbay.jetty.jar, jetty.jar), and I'm
not interested in the default Debian daemon. This is to embed jetty in
another application.
A configuration option in /etc/default/jetty, potentially handled via
debconf, would be nice.
However, it might be more sensible to create some libjetty*-java
packages, reflecting one of the uses of Jetty: embedding a server in
other applications. I suppose the HTTP part and the WebApp part should
be split in different packages too.
Bye,

Not fixing for now. The majority of use cases for jetty will be the use
as standalone servlet engine and webserver. I considered a package-split
some time ago but I decided the effort would not be worth it.
With update-rc.d the startup of jetty can be controled like any other
daemon.
