Package: jython
Version: 2.5.3-15
Severity: serious

The (system) Jython cache dir is in /usr/share/jython/Cache, while the
FHS wants to have it in /var/cache/.

This is problematic, since the cache may tend to be filled by the
installation of Jython packages or by other Jython invocations as root,
but is never cleaned up explicitely.

Best regards

Package: jython
Version: 2.5.3-15
Severity: normal

when I use jython to import from a jar as a user, I get the following
messages:

>>> import sys
>>> sys.path.append('/usr/share/java/adql.jar')
>>> import adql
*sys-package-mgr*: processing new jar, '/usr/share/java/adql-1.3.jar'
*sys-package-mgr*: can't write cache file for '/usr/share/java/adql-1.3.jar'
*sys-package-mgr*: can't write index file

since the cache dir is not writeable for the ordinary user.
Maybe this should have been set to the user's home dir if started by a user?

Best regards

Actually $HOME/.jython is the user's registry file. I'll then go for
".jython-cache" as default cachedir, relative to $HOME.

Thanks,

Hi,

you could try setting

(gdb) handle SIGSEGV nostop noprint pass

then "cont" and when it crashes "bt full"

I'm no gdb expert either but if you get something useful from gdb it could be
helpful.

Markus

Hi Shirish,

What do you mean by "install all maven library packages" ? 'apt-get
install maven' will install everything necessary to run the mvn executable.

These libraries are only used to build other packages without an
internet connectivity as required by the Debian policy. But in a normal
use case, the libraries are downloaded from the Maven Central repository
as usual. You are free to use the plugins packaged by Debian of course,
but you'll have to install them manually as you did. A metapackage would
be too broad and would probably pull all the Java library packages in
Debian, that doesn't seem desirable.

Bug#837081: Re%3A Bug#837081%3A netbeans%3A Crashes due to assertion failure in GLib

2017-03-23 Thread Tobias Wich
Hello,

I can reproduce the problem in between a few seconds and a few minutes, so it
shouldn't be
a problem getting the stacktraces. However it's been ages that I used gdb and
I'm far from
an expert in that field.

First I tried adding -XX:OnError="gdb - %p", so gdb is started when the process
crashes. But I
guess the assert error performs the usual exit on the process and nothing
happens.

I tried attaching the process with gdb --pid=..., but the java process
constantly raises SIGSEGV
at least once every second.

Can someone tell me how these breaks can be ignored? And how I get all the
necessary stack
traces?

Best regards
Tobias

Bug#858561: maven needs to have a metapackage to install all the libraries

2017-03-23 Thread shirish शिरीष
Package: maven
Version: 3.3.9-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
There doesn't seem to be a metapackage to install all maven library
packages and have to install them manually which is time-consuming.

Could something be done about it ?

Dear Maintainer,
it's a serious security bug IMO, feel free to switch back to important
if you disagree.
