that we wouldn't migrate the repository as a whole, but subprojects are
welcome to do so. I've migrated the solr packaging to git on Alioth myself.

Please find attached a patch, backported from testing, for this bug. It
build the symlink
(/etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/05solr.policy - ../../solr/tomcat.policy) in
the postinst maintainer
script. This prevents the condition that triggers the bug.

As far as I can (publically) see the need for contrib arises because it
uses libdb-je-java.
The main reason is that lucene2 fails a number of unit tests when running
with java-gcj-compat, e.g. for the indexing of dates. See bug #468334.
This has been deemed serious enough to put lucene2 into
Tomcat also doesn't start for me without including commons-logging to
Tomcat's class path. I also think the severity of this bug should be
raised, Tomcat is not usable like this at all.
