to a hardcoded list of JDK_DIRS in /etc/init.d/jetty for which
the original submitter provided a (now incomplete) patch.
The fix should either be to update this list of JDK_DIRS or to use
another way to set JAVA_HOME automatically.
IOW, the bug is still present, please don't close.

Also, a patch is already available.
Yeah, kind of the point I was making; if you lack the time I can upload
a package integrating this patch.

which value did you put in JAVA_HOME?
I didn't set anything.

Current `best' version is /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/bin/java.
So, I'm bumping the severity as jetty fails to start with any JVMs.

(Besides the problem is in jsvc, not Tomcat.)
Oh; I suppose this bug can be reassigned or perhaps jsvc can be made a
shell wrapper which loads the module as well; or even tomcat can source
an init shell snippet from the jsvc package before invoking jsvc
then?

Once the daemon is bootstrapped, it will open its regular log files (as

(all?) log messages are logged through the Tomcat logging mechanisms
anyway, and end up in various other log files. I don't know what the standard
output is good for really.
It's usually to diagnose startup problems.
