Re: Errors in Package Homepage entries
Simon Kainz: Hi! I know, this should normally be filed as a bug, but would result in some kind of mass bug filing which I think can be avoided. Please take a look at http://duck.debian.net/index.php?maintainer=pkg-java-maintain...@lists.alio th.debian.org There are currently ~100 packages with broken ord wrong Homepage entries - most of them seem to got currupted on some kind of server restructuring, eg. https://tablelayout.dev.java.net/ (whic his broken) vs. http://java.net/projects/TableLayout (which works) - the same for e.g SwingX. If it's better to file bugs against the packages to not break to usual workflow i'll glady do, but I think it might be easyier/less fuzz this way. Forward to Debian-Java Hi Simon, I'd prefer a minor bug against each package. Hello Emil, Where are you finding a package for 2.0.1? When I look at the PTS for libgdata-java, I only see 1.30.0 [1]. Right, libgdata-java 1.30.0 actually contains what Google otherwise distribute as Google Contacts 2.0.1. In other words, if I am not mistaken, we would need libgdata-java to be 1.43.0 which contains Google Contacts 3.0.0. Also, the package only appears in lenny and squeeze, having been removed from unstable and testing earlier this year. Does this mean there's no chance of it getting back? Bug#635964: pdfsam Re: Bug#635964: New version still not available
Hi Tom, 1.1.4 is in the archive, so at least the pre-2.0 series of pdfsam seems covered. I recall to have looked at the never version a while back. It has a series of additional build dependencies. It is quite possible that sun-java6 is vulnerable to that CVE; I haven't checked. The problem is that we cannot do anything about it as we do not have permission to distribute updates for sun-java6[1]... Thanks for the explanation. I understand this package has been dropped from testing and unstable. Is there a way other than the Mozilla blocklist to inform Squeeze users that they are running an insecure package? Since I'm running stable and this package is still present in the repository, I assumed it was still receiving security updates. Forgive me if this is a naive question, but should the package be removed from stable so users are not unwittingly given a false sense of security? But as it might fail again as above - any idea what might be wrong? (TODO: 1. make sure the installed .jar file name agrees with the commonly used upstream file name. 2. Re: libhibernate-validator-java debdiff
It is Californian weather these days over Germany. And we have a holiday on Monday, which basically brings the country to a standstill. I am still without my key, so I cannot do a team upload and thought about helping just by putting Brian's changes into the pkg-java repository ... paired with the suggestion for Brian not to be shy and commit his stuff. This wasn't a case of being shy - I have submitted to the svn pkg-java repo but am new to git, and when I tried to access it, it timed out on me :-( It sounds a bit like Onkar (CCed) was addressing a bit of the same that Brian addressed. So, let us hope for Torsten not to have the typical vacation, @Brian: please consider updating your patch with the hindsight of the Ubuntu patch, so we can possibly coordinate our eyeballs' attention a bit in future releases, and just some friendly hello to everyone. Re: Intent to NMU jspwiki to fix pending po-debconf l10n bugs
Hello Christian, Please excuse the late reply. I will prepare an upload of jspwiki to occur according to the schedule below (that is, accepting translation updates until March 26th). Thank you, tony On 03/12/2012 11:11 PM, Christian PERRIER wrote: Dear Debian maintainer, The jspwiki Debian package, which you are the maintainer of, has pending bug report(s) which include translation updates or fixes for po-debconf, namely bug number 619304 (and maybe other similar bugs). The i18n team is now hunting the very last bits of missing localization and your package went on our radar. You may have uploaded recently but, unfortunately for you, you then got *another* l10n bug report. So, sorry for this, but the radar beeped at your package and here am I with an NMU intent...:-) I have the intention, as part of a more general action of the Debian i18n Task Force to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for jspwiki in order to fix this as well as all pending translations for the debconf templates. Of course, an upload made by you would even be better...:-) Such changes are always harmless, which explains why I safely consider building NMUs for such issues even though they're obviously non critical. The schedule for the NMU (in case it happens, that is if you agree with it or if I don't receive any answer in 2 days) is roughly the following: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 : send this notice Saturday, March 17, 2012 : post a NMU announcement to debian-i18n with you (maintainer) CC'ed this can happen earlier if the maintainer agrees In such case, the deadlines below will also happen earlier Sunday, March 25, 2012 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation updates Monday, March 26, 2012 : build the package and upload it to DELAYED/7-day send the NMU patch to the BTS Monday, April 02, 2012 : NMU reaches incoming If you intent to upload yourself, please notify me so that I interrupt the process on my side. Please also don't upload without a discussion with me. Some translators might send a few new translations and I can handle a round of translation updates for you. Really, don't upload silently...:-) In case I upload an NMU, I will subscribe to the Package Tracking System for jspwiki and follow its life for 60 days after my NMU in order to fix any issue potentially introduced by my upload. Let me know, as soon as possible, if you have any kind of objection to this process. If you'd rather do the fix yourself, I will of course leave the package alone. Same if you have reasons not to do the update now. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature __ This is the maintainer address of Debian's Java team http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-java-maintainers. Hi Niels, Thanks for filing the bug. The versioned dependency on libxml-commons-external-java (= 1.4.01-2) entailed updating those links, which has been fixed in SVN. Re: update for sun-java package
On 2012-03-14 03:43, Willian Braga wrote: Hello Maintainers: Hi, My name's Willian and I'm a Linux Mint 12 user (wheezy/sid in /etc/debian_version) :) I was checking the plugins I'm using in Firefox with Plugin Check page ( http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) and it reported me that my Java plugin is outdated. Also, they told me there are some security risk running this outdated version. The version it reported me was 1.6.0_26, which is the same I'm using over here. I was reading the changelog from version from 1.6.0_27 to 1.6.0_31 and there are some security vulnerabilities which were fixed, but we are missing them because the official debian package is not updated. Those security are below: I am a bit pedantic here, but there never was an official Debian package for sun-java (it was non-free and therefore not a part of Debian). [...] So I would like to know if you guys could update it. I know how to manually update it, but i think it's important to update the debian package as well because it would update all Debian users and alike. [...] Thanks, Willian. Unfortunately we cannot. Oracle no longer provides sun-java (or oracle-java) under a license we can use for distributing the non-free Java[1]. We can offer you is openjdk-6 or openjdk-7; I know there have been (and probably still are) cases were openjdk did not work as well as sun-java. If you experience such with openjdk, I would highly recommend you report those so those issues can be fixed. If openjdk is simply not a feasible alternative, I believe that the package java-package (in sid/Wheezy) can be used to construct a deb from the manual downloaded sun-java. It has the advantage that dpkg/apt is aware of your local Java installation and will use that if possible. ~Niels [1] http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/sylvestre/2011/08/26/sun_java6_packages_removed_from_debian_u http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/sylvestre/2011/10/25/removal_of_sun_java6_from_debian http://mrpogson.com/2011/12/14/sun-java-no-longer-welcome-in-debian-gnulinux/ __ This is the maintainer address of Debian's Java team http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-java-maintainers.
