I've installed a virtual machine with Debian testing (Buster), KDE
Plasma, and kamoso, and I cannot reproduce the bug there.
In testing (buster), when I start kamoso, the program launches well. It
shows a dancing banana because my VM has no access to the laptop's
camera, but I think that is
plasma-applet-redshift-control 1.0.18-1 is marked for autoremoval from testing
on 2018-03-26
It (build-)depends on packages with these RC bugs:
873240: redshift-gtk: redshift doesn't launch either when launching in the
console or at start of computer
883119: redshift-gtk: No redshift icon in

Thanks for packaging kamoso.
I've just installed it for the first time in my laptop using Debian 9 stable,
and cannot make it run.
When I start it from a terminal I get this message:
$ kamoso
