Bug#807805: vlc: Crash upon startup

2015-12-13 Thread Hormet Yiltiz
Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.1-5+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   After a recent system upgrade in Debian Testing, `vlc` cannot start
   and crashes reporting:
   "QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set"
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   This is reproducable in my environment. I am running i3wm installed
   alongside with KDE5. Reinstalling or reconfiguring `vlc` did not
   solve the issue.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   VLC crash upon startup.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
   VLC starts normally.

calling `vlc --no-qt-system-tray` will start vlc and is an effective
workaround.

Please install vlc-dbg and qtbase5-dbg and provide a full backtrace.

2015-12-13 Thread Hörmetjan Yiltiz
Thanks! Is it due to a lack of some interface in i3wm, in which case it is
i3wm's bug, or that `vlc` is assuming some interface that is not
necessarily present in any system?

Hörmet

It's hard to tell without a backtrace. But it sounds like a i3wm or Qt 5 issue
to me.

Bug#800586: camorama cannot take pictures

Taking pictures is only one functionality of camorama, but I wouldn't
consider it the "primary" one. Hence I'd argue that this is important,
but not grave enough to be RC. For example, live preview is not
affected, and that's all I ever use the program for.

I can confirm that in default configuration, Clicking "Take Picture"
does nothing.
However, taking pictures works fine here, after doing "Edit -
Preferences", "Local Capture", and checking "Enable local capture". If I
now press the "Take Picture" button, a picture is created. So from all I
can tell, this is "just" bad UI.

Downgrading accordingly, to let the package go back to testing.

Kind regards,
Ralf

Looks like the Audacious scrobbler plugin is broken after some changes
in Last.fm:

scrobbler_communication.c:151 [send_message_to_lastfm]: Could not communicate
with last.fm: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA
certificates.
scrobbler_communication.c:169 [scrobbler_request_token]: Could not send token
request to last.fm.

Upstream bug: http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/343

The upstream bug tracker seems to be down, but it can be accessed
using the Google cache:

   "it seems that the issue may be related with the order the
   certificates are sent by last.fm. OpenSSL seems to be more
   resilient to server (mis?)configurations. After checking if it
   really solves this issue, a strong dependency on OpenSSL to avoid
   compiling against GnuTLS may solve this."

Berto

Dear Maintainer,

I installed devede using apt-get.

Now whenever I double-click on any file in the Xfce file manager
(Thunar), DeVeDe starts.

It appears that DeVeDe has hijacked the file associations in
Xfce/ Thunar.

I'll let the Qt 5 maintainers decide about that. Dmitry recently mentioned in
#804964 that fixes for crashes in QXcbWindow were merged for Qt 5.6.

Bug#807823: calling functions

2015-12-13 Thread Joël Krähemann
Here's an overview what I'm doing ...

Thread A:

ipatch_sf2_reader_new();
ipatch_sf2_reader_load();
ipatch_convert_object_to_type();
ipatch_container_get_children();

ipatch_sf2_zone_get_link_item();

/* read instrument names */
ipatch_sf2_preset_get_zones();
ipatch_sf2_zone_get_link_item();

/* read all samples related to preset and instrument */
ipatch_sf2_preset_get_zones();
ipatch_sf2_zone_get_link_item();

   "loop-start\0", loop_start,
   "loop-end\0", loop_end,
   NULL);
ipatch_sf2_find_sample();

Bug#807854: additional information

2015-12-13 Thread David Christensen

I noted the problem when opening a *.txt file.

STFW Xfce stores file associations for a given user in:

~/.config/mimeapps.list

Mine contained two entries that seem to be the source of the bug:

2015-12-13 13:23:42 dpchrist@i72600s ~/.config
$ egrep -i '^\[|devede' mimeapps.list-20151212-225710-devede
[Default Applications]
text/plain=devede.desktop
[Added Associations]
text/plain=devede.desktop;

Removing them fixed the problem for *.txt files -- double-clicking on a
*.txt file in Thunar opens the file in Mousepad.

But when I double-click on a *.devede file, it is also opened by Mousepad!

So, it appears that:

1. Xfce thinks *.txt files are MIME type text/plain.

2. Xfce thinks *.devede files are MIME type text/plain.

3. Xfce uses MIME type for file association.

So, the root cause of the problem appears to be Xfce and the design of
its file association feature (?).
