introduction e-mail dvdauthor/ogmtools
Hi, this is my introduction e-mail. I've contributing to Debian since for over 10 years (it started out with an ITP for transgaming WineX that got squashed by the company) , but never actually got round to go for the full debian maintainership. This puts me in a bit of a pickle since I always need someone to upload the packages for me. In the past this used to be Luigi or Christian. The packages I maintain are not high profile (e.g. dvdauthor, ogmtools); but serve an audience. My background ranges from embedded to streaming video (GStreamer, mainly contributing support for the not so nice hardware encoders); google is your friend; I'm NOT the one with the mustache, nor am I a medical doctor. - have created an alioth account. yes have subscribed pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list. yes have subscribed pkg-multimedia-commits mailing list. yes. are familiar with managing bugs in debian. Euhm, yes :-) agree to review other's work (patches and packages). This is one of the reasons I am joining this community instead of asking Christian Marillat to upload my packages: a strong believer of peer review; one should walk the talk; more review can only result in a better quality of the packages. Someone suggested this to me in a bug because I missed the latest dvdauthor release during the holidays. ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

I've just added you to the alioth team, you should now have write access to our packaging branches. Welcome to the team! At the moment I don't use git for a VCS, but I'm planning to start using it for the next version. At http://wiki.debian.org/DebianMultimedia/DevelopPackaging it says quilt needs to be used for patch management, however at the moment I currently use dpatch. Is this okay, or will I need to change to quilt? On our last meeting we agreed that since we are rather short on uploaders, we require every package to have a primary uploader and that he may agree to use another packaging system or even some other packaging helper than debhelper. However, most current uploaders prefer debhelper and quilt, so that's why that's still recommended in our wiki pages. I've taken a brief look at lives, and while I haven't used it yet, it indeed looks very promising. I'll consider putting me in the Uploaders field. If my membership is accepted, I'll change the maintainer field to Debian Multimedia Maintainers pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org. The only patch in LiVES at the moment does not currently have a DEP-3 compliant header, but I'll fix that for the next version. excellent! I've joined both the pkg-multimedia-maintainers and pkg-multimedia-commits mailing lists, and are pretty familiar with managing bugs in Debian (I haven't done that much of it, but for some examples look at the closed bugs for lives). I also agree to review other's work. I have an alioth account - username is hrickards-guest. excellent as well! -- Gruesse/greetings, Reinhard Tartler, KeyID 945348A4 ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Hi Harry, Ok. Am I right in thinking I should put myself in the Uploaders field? (Sorry for the probably obvious question, I've never packaged in a team before) Of course.
