Hi there!

I just finished a personal project using a combination of
openshot+ardour+handbrake.

It was great to have these great tools out of the box in Debian. I'm
glad we can do these things only with FLOSS software.

Thanks for your hard work!

liboss4-salsa*: please add six snd_{midi,seq}_* functions

2018-04-12 Thread Thorsten Glaser
retitle 870787 liboss4-salsa*: please add six snd_{midi,seq}_* functions
affects 870787 src:portmidi
thanks

Hello again,

we also need the following symbols in oss-salsa:

• snd_midi_event_encode_byte
• snd_midi_event_free
• snd_midi_event_new
• snd_seq_delete_port
• snd_seq_disconnect_from

These are required to build src:portmidi, which is a new
dependency of src:musescore, and thus extending the scope
of this bugreport instead of creating a new one. Just to
remind, we also need this:

• snd_seq_event_length

Please d̲o̲ provide this!

Small side note: perhaps, given enough functions in oss-salsa,
portaudio19 could also use it, achieving feature parity. (Which
is why I Cc’d its maintainers as well.)

Thanks in advance,

Bug#895475: openshot-qt: non-DFSG assets in package

2018-04-11 Thread Alex Krusemark
Package: openshot-qt
Version: 2.4.1-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I found that this package includes a bundled font "Ubuntu Regular", which was
determined to be non-DFSG
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-licence/+bug/769874). It installs to
the path
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/openshot_qt/images/fonts/Ubuntu-R.ttf". I know
that in some other packages with this issue, the font has been replaced with a
DFSG font such as Cantarell or DejaVu Sans.

you need to have an account on salsa (and if you already have one, you
should also tell people your username :-)).
then go to the multimedia-team page [1] and request to become a member.
somebody might then add you to the team.

Yes that is the plan, but unfortunately we only have 3 days to do that
before the alioth list is turned off, so I think it's better to have the
list migrated for the time being and let the list go once enough stuff
has been migrated.

Thanks,

Hi Mattia,

I am around, but am unsure what to do. Reading through the past mails on
this topic on the pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list, I thought the
plan was to move all packages to use "debian-multime...@lists.debian.org"
as maintainer, and we could safely let go of the alioth list. I may have
misunderstood something.

Mhh, yes indeed.

James: do you have time to either get ahold of siretart by tomorrow, or
get formorer appoint you as an ML admin, so you can then ask the
alioth-lists team to migrate it?
Otherwise I can deal with formorer and become myself an admin.

But rather, also that new ML is something temporary that will go away in
few years, so really, please people remember to switch to the @l.d.o ML…

Hello.

The package supercollider-sc3-plugins fails to build from source on
ppc64el, with the same kind of error, reported on #766630 that caused,
supercollider to fail.

It is an issue with altivec implementation on ppc64el, which actually
needs to be corrected.
The definitive fix would be to write ppc64el altivec code, which is not
a quick job. Just as it was done for supercollider, disabling altivec
for ppc64el at least allows it to build.

That is in the patch attached.

Regards
Fernando

Please can I upload to https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team?

2018-04-10 Thread Georges Khaznadar
Hello, I made an upgrade for the package supercollider-sc3-plugins:
version 3.7.1 => version 3.9.1, and I intend to do the same for sonic-pi
if possible.

However I have no write access to the new VCS repository. Please can my
account be subscribed to multimedia-team project in salsa.d.o?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards, Georges.

P.S.: By the way, I shall upload the new package to DELAYED-10, please
tell me if something is wrong with it. I tested the newest package with
the current debian package for sonic-pi, nothing appeared broken.

This can be seen on the reproducible builds first seen 2018-03-15
affecting 3.4 and 3.5 in experimental.

I'm guessing this has something to do with "make -O" which was enabled
recently in debhelper, but I haven't checked.

As me and Adrian said on IRC, it does not. The problem was nodejs
leaving stderr in non-blocking mode and I've committed this to fix it.
So no bugs in debhelper here.

Hi James,

In a recent upload, debhelper started using -Oline instead of -O. Does
that solve this problem for you? (It was done unrelated to this bug,
but looking at the documentation for -O, I suspect it might help here as
well)

Bug#895177: invada-studio-plugins-lv2 FTCBFS: uses build architecture build tools

2018-04-08 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: invada-studio-plugins-lv2
Version: 1.2.0+repack0-8
Tags: patch upstream
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

invada-studio-plugins-lv2 fails to cross build from source, because it
uses some build architecture build tools. Notably, it hard codes the
build architecture pkg-config in the upstream build system. Then it
uses the build architecture compiler as the value for LD. The former is
easily fixed by making it overridable (and dh_auto_build passes that).
For LD, it is already indirected through a variable, but dh_auto_build
cannot know the right value as for some packages it needs to be a C++
linker. So it is best to default LD from CC or CXX respectively. The
attached patch implements all of that and makes
invada-studio-plugins-lv2 cross build successfully. Please consider
applying it.

What are the errors? This bug might be RC but I can't tell if I don't
know what the underlying issue is.

The correct fix is to generate versioned shlibs files for the libraries
so that the correct dependencies are automatically generated. Overriding
dh_makeshlibs with "dh_makeshlibs -V" is the quick conservative way of
doing this.

Thanks,
James

This can be seen on the reproducible builds first seen 2018-03-15
affecting 3.4 and 3.5 in experimental.

I'm guessing this has something to do with "make -O" which was enabled
recently in debhelper, but I haven't checked.

Bug#895151: Guitarix update 35.2-2 (stretch) -> 36.1-1 (buster) improvement

2018-04-07 Thread trebmuh

Package: guitarix
Version: 36.1-1

While upgrading from the Stretch package (35.2-2) to the sid/buster one
(36.1-1), it doesn't update the libgxw0 and libgxwmm0 packages which are
needed by the Guitarix application.

Then, the application isn't fully functional since it requires those
libs to work with, and doesn't have those in the right version, then
missing the right versionned functions. Hence there are some errors
while using guitarix.

In d/control, adding to the binary "Package: guitarix" 's "Depends" '
field the following seems to fix the issue :

libgxw0 (>= ${source:Version}),
libgxwmm0 (>= ${source:Version}),

Please double check before applying.

Hope that helps.

Your package depends or build-depends on gconf, but gconf will be
removed from Debian soon.

gconf's last release was about 5 years ago. It has been replaced by
gsettings (provided in Debian by source glib2.0 )

The lame plugin was moved from -ugly to -good in 1.14 and because -good
1.14 has not yet migrated to testing, you have managed to lose the
entire plugin.

Upgrading gstreamer1.0-plugins-good to 1.14 in unstable should work, but
I am wondering whether it's a good idea to add a Breaks to -ugly to
prevent this from happening? This is the recommended way according to
#9 on this page:
 https://wiki.debian.org/PackageTransition

Thanks,
James

Package: blender
Version: 2.78.a+dfsg0-4
Severity: important

As many people are aware, GPU rendering in Blender with Mesa/openCL is
currently broken. HOWEVER, it appears that all the outstanding problems
are now fixable, if the appropriate patches and updates are applied to
the relevant Debian packages. Therefore, this bug report does not
describe a problem with Blender itself, but what changes must be made
elsewhere to get GPU rendering working.

This is what currently happens when GPU rendering is attempted:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=848258

https://developer.blender.org/T50522

There are three separate problems visible here; I have filed a Debian
bug report, with solution, for each of them:

*** implicit declaration of function {lgamma,native_tan} is invalid in C99 ***

This results from using an insufficiently up-to-date version of libclc.
see here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=857710

*** invalid argument type 'X *' to unary expression ***

This results from a known bug in LLVM; a patch is available upstream.
see here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=857623

*** unsupported call to function get_local_size ***

This results from a known bug in libclc-amdgcn; a patch is available
upstream. see here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=857591

All three of these problems are fixable NOW. Once having done that, it
might happen that other problems would become evident, but then they
could be worked on, too. Or it might happen that GPU rendering would
finally just start working.

Can these updates be applied to the Debian archive, in the near future?

Dear Maintainer,

Soundconverter does not load, showing an AssertionError and crashing.

I've tested the stable, testing and sid versions and all them chrashed. Maybe
the error was caused by any dependency I'm not able to find.

'reopen' may be inappropriate when a bug has been closed with a version;
all fixed versions will be cleared, and you may need to re-add them.

removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
- contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a Qt5
port of your application
- if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
suitable alternatives for your users
- if there is a Qt5 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
- if both the Qt4 and the Qt5 versions already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the Qt4 version

= Porting =

Some of us where involved in various Qt4 to Qt5 migrations [migration] and we
know for sure that porting stuff from Qt4 to Qt5 is much much easier and less
painful than it was from Qt3 to Qt4.

We also understand that there is still a lot of software still using Qt4.

Don't forget to take a look at the C++ API changes page [apichanges] whenever
you start porting your application.

[migration] http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/packagingqtbasedstuff.html
[apichanges] http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/sourcebreaks.html

For any questions and issues, do not hesitate to contact the Debian Qt/KDE
team at debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org

The removal is being tracked in

Re: MuseScore (and soundfonts) backporting plans

No, first and foremost because we don't do this in sid/testing,
but also because fluidr3mono isn't going to go away.

While musescore-general is a fork off it, fluidr3mono will
still have its use cases, especially as the former is expected
to kinda explode in size, so users of systems with less RAM
will need to use the latter.

I was more thinking of "we don't really need to backport this"
but turns out we do, but it's not a problem (more of a consideration
of mirror space and laziness). But thanks anyway.

Anyway, fluidr3mono is now in backports-NEW too.

bye,

Bug#894373: works in unstable

2018-04-05 Thread Lars Schimmer
Ok, no issue on a unstable system. So this bug is a issue with mixing
libraries from stable :-( Unfortunate.
You can close this bug.

mixed debian releases to get a stable base system with recent CUDA and
blender e.g.
Blender in stretch does miss some functions of sid blender. Same with CUDA.

Sorry for the hassle.

MfG,
Lars Schimmer

thanks for the heads-up!

Have you considered to trigger a transition in backports from
fluidr3mono-gm-soundfont to musescore-general-soundfont by turning the
former into a dummy package with a dependency on the latter?
