I just ran across this issue - a seemingly empty folder in Thunar - with a local directory. So, it is not specific to my GDrive mount. The directory in question had square brackets in the name. Removing [ and ] characters from the directory name fixed the issue - all files were seen in the

I was able to get the directory contents to show by changing the view to icons. Even when changed back to Compact list, the files are there. In ~/.xsession-errors, there are some repetitions of (thunar:1263): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid unclassed pointer in cast to 'ThunarTreeView'.
