I can definitely reproduce this. I think Thunar has been doing this since I updated from Lenny to Squeeze. I see both Word documents (.doc) and Ogg Vorbis files (.ogg) misdetected as plain text document and Ogg Theora video, respectively. Those may be separate issues; I don't know. Test cases
