Matplotlib version is 1.5.1. You can look in SAGE_ROOT/local/var/lib/sage/installed to see a file for each Sage package, including a version number. Also, as Justin points out, you can look at SAGE_ROOT/build/pkgs, and in particular SAGE_ROOT/build/pkgs/matplotlib/package-version.txt.
Python version is 2.7.13. You can check this by (for example) running the command sage --python --version from the command line.
