There is a new compact scanner from Epson, which can scan documents,up to
5.6 m in length, in the so called "Banner-Modus".

That sounds like what you are looking for.

Usually, those scan to pc functionality require either a (anonymous) SMB/
FTP folder or prop. driver on the target PC.
If your scanner is connected to the network, try to reach the web interface
of the browser by it's IP Address to configure your scan buttons.

Usually with a tool called wireshark (
https://www.wireshark.org/download.html) and a filter enabled for usb only.
Depends on your system environment, you maybe have to install a general
purpose usb driver which enables to debug the usb traffic.
But the last time I used wireshark, it will give
Just a guess without having that scanner model:
You should be able to use your desired mode, when you share a folder on
windows and set both access and security to "everyone" in the properties
of the shared folder.
In the settings of your scanner you should enable "SMB" protocol too.

Could it be, that your WiFi-Router / Access point do isolate clients on the
Wifi-Network in some weird way?
Just my 2c...
As for the execute bit (first one)
usually a 'sudo chmod -x should do solve that warning.
The others are as I understand, be ignored.
But you should inform the related package maintainers responsible for these
files or send a message to the company support (brother/ HP) to inform them.
Be aware that, if you download the pdf on your (Android)Smartphone,
It will be downloaded as .pdf.apk , a Android Installation pack!
That happened to me twice.
Just rename and remove the .apk part and the file can be opened like any
other pdf file.

What he meant, was that you write a bash-script were in you call scanimage
with your preferred parameters already set
to scan your document/ picture.

Sandboxing is the loosing sign of developers who can't fix things and don't
know their product.

Be patient, not every developer lives in the same time zone or check the
mailing list frequently, like you or me. They are all doing their work for
free.
I'm sure other developers will jump in too and have helpful Tipps & critics.
Kind regards.

But for this you don't need to modify saned. ...
Or do I miss here something?

I would add, that if you want to do some scanning accounting, that you
should install saned on server even your scanner is network ready.
Accessing the scanner only through saned for the clients, stop bypassing
the server/accounting, especially when you enable authentication on the
scanner.
That

You can use pinning for your config files via apt..

Hi it would be nice when you provide:
The Frontend-Programm (XSane, simplescan, etc) you used, which produced
this error.
Provide the version of sane-backends you currently using.
afaik, Ubuntu 18.04 delivers a 1.0.27 experimental version.
If you use your Scanner on a USB3 port, please try to

Hi brian, you have to use the Linux scanner drivers provided by Lexmark.
Backdraw of this is that the install script use a library path like
/lib/amd64 instead of the multiarch library path, 2. They still rely on a
ancient usblib version 0.1
And you have to set up their config file to have a
config examples that help your customers to use your
products. ☺️
