I'd like to ask if it is authorized under the --mode Gray to increase
the --resolution until an amount higher than 300 to obtain a good (100%)
output quality? or should this damage the Lide20, as I read long time
ago for the --mode Color ?

I bought a sane unsupported CanonScan Lide 500F and I have interest to
test any ?pre-alpha code? that could support using it under Linux/Sane,
if it could help to developers.
I'm using Ubuntu 6.10.
