Hi everyone, 'very' new to linux in every way possible. While I also
use Ubuntu my predominant PC use is Windows 7 (64 bit) so my Ubuntu use
is 99% in the GUI side.
I have a FreeNAS box in use which from what I read uses FreeBSD as its
main OS. While I was able to set that up and get working
I have bought this scanner recently. Can I help you out with testing or

Avoid lossy tools too: I think I lost some quality before I realised
xv output quality is dependent on the resolution of the screen it
is called from. even if I'm wrong in the case of xv, it's something
to check with tools.

the sane (Ubuntu).
When I try to scan a Legal size page from ADF source, simply the sane-backend
restricts the area to 8.5 in X 11.72 in, and the device support up to 14 inches
in height in Windows.

the above mentioned two lines hoping that my scanner in object may work with
Linux Ubuntu 10.04 installed on my computer .

The LiDE 80 is not yet supported by sane-backends. You will have to
write some code, in addition to modifying the udev rules :(
