The bigger question is why does the kds driver return
SANE_STATUS_JAMMED when the scanner is not jammed. Since it is closed
source, we cannot know.

Backends that misbehave when run through saned are buggy. saned exposes
bugs that are hard to it with local clients. This is something we've
been through several times over the years.
