Hi Peter,
I have continued to work on epjitsu in order to
a) make my S1300i work with sane
b) fix some bugs
c) make the code a bit easier to understand
The patches can be found in my GitHub Repository at:

I was eager to try this as I also have an S1300i and had to stop

So I cloned your git, build and installed, copied
/etc/sane.d/epjitsu.conf and
b) scan with 600dpi
c) scan only front or back (i.e. no duplex)
Another unsolved issue (at least for me) is that after each invocation of
scanimage, scanadf, ... I need to reset the scanner.
Without it it just reports the infamous Error during device I/O.

Hi,
when doing a scan from ADF with default page size it will abort with an error:
scanimage --mode=Color --resolution=300 --source=ADF --verbose /tmp/foo.pnm
[hp5590] Top Y (0) + pixels Y (106680) exceedes max Y 4200
scanimage: sane_start: Invalid argument
I have all modes and resolutions working now. It will be a couple more
days before I push to sane-backends.
