[sane-devel] no scan for scanner with xsane

How do I configure xsane NOT to scan for scanner devices when it starts? The scanning screws up kdetv/my MSI TV at Anywhere TV card such that I have to reset the channel.

I just set up xsane and it defaults to saving in .pnm format. Why do I want that format instead of .png?
