Basically, the driver needs to send a reset command to the scanner,
potentially solving both the initial ADF not working issue and the ADF
failure

I just got an HP-Scanjet 8250 with duplex adf.
The scanner works fine, but AFAIK the ADF is currently not supported.
How can i Help to get this device working?

There have been a couple recent threads on this, with Mike Kelly
working to fix this issue. I'm not sure what the result was- perhaps
you can search the archives?

This is fantastic news!!! I am getting to the point where I can try and
help out. I have two HP 8250 scanners, and am running Slackware 12.2 on the
systems they are connected to.
I can also try USB snoop, if that will help...although I don't yet have that
system in hand. That would be a Win XP
