[sane-devel] LiDE 35 question
On Tuesday 18 January 2005 03:23, Luke Campagnola wrote: I got a Canon LiDE 35 a while back without checking to see if it was supported (I cleverly assumed that LiDE 30 support was good enough), and rather than sending it back, I'm giving a go at writing the backend. I'm most of the way finished sorting out the differences between the gl646 and the gl841, but I'm worried about damaging the scanner. Does anybody know what things I should look out for, and whether this scanner has any built-in protection? Hi, what protection you're looking for? These devices are so cheap, that there's nothing inside which can protect them in any way. But in general, if you take some care nothing will happen. To proceed your work, you should download the genesys stuff from our CVS experimental, and extend the stuff there by the settings required for your device. The settings (or at least some of them) can be gathered via usb-snoop. Ciao, Gerhard
[sane-devel] problems with 2.6.10 kernel
Hi, I've been using xsane on my IBM Thinkpad for quite a while with no problems. Running kernel 2.6.7 until last week when I upgraded to 2.6.10. I now find that (x)sane is unable to locate my scanner - and Epsom Perfection 1240U. Looking into it further I find that the usbdevfs fails to mount at boot-up, although my usb mouse is working fine. The error message in the log says 'usbdevfs not supported in kernel'. I have checked the .config file and there is an entry: #define USB_DEVICEFS=y which I presume is the relevant one. Can anyone suggest anything that I can check, or, if this is not the right place to ask, which e-mail list is relevant? [sane-devel] proposal patch for sanei_usb.c and sanei_usb.h
Hello, I have made a patch for sanei_usb.c and sanei_usb.h to provide the following: -More debug info for control and isochronous mode -Detects endpoints for different configurations, interface and altsetting numbers 0 - Routine added for changing configuration, interface or altsetting number sanei_usb_set_configuration sanei_usb_claim_interface sanei_usb_release_interface sanei_usb_set_altinterface This is needed to access for example a webcam. See http://gkall.hobby.nl/stv680-aiptek.html for a SANE stv680 vidcam backend (status alpha, uses usb bulkmode) For comparison, history and updates i have placed the patched files in SANE CVS path: sane/experimental/sanei_usb/ This patch is a update from my patch to the list (07-09-2004) Before adding the patch to the sanei_usb.c file in cvs i like to know if there are any comments about it. -- m.vr.gr. You can look if your scanner is supported by sane and then try that instead - but we can't help with that problem. johannes
[sane-devel] SANE on FreeBSD 5.3
I've already found that libieee1284 doesn't work on the FreeBSD 5.x series and consequently my parallel port scanner will not work. (it works as a nice paperweight though) Before going out and buying a new scanner, I was curious if anyone has had any luck getting USB scanners to work under FreeBSD 5.3. Thanks, Micah
[sane-devel] proposel for buffer size increase frontends scanimage ..
--=-G2Ge2qX71EHeEV2nS+0H Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello, Proposal to increase the buffersize of buffer[32 * 1024] to buffer[1024 * 1024] for frontend scanimage for diff zie attachment. In this way the write cycle in sane_read will be reduced and is it possible to write a image from for example a 640 x 480 webcam in one cycle to the frontend buffer. For other frontends its the same but i tested only xscanimage at this moment (patch (with other patches) is in sane/experimental but needs a update) For: saned ?? scanadf ?? Others ?? What's the advantage? If there really is an advantage, I think it should probably be made dynamic instead. Using this much space on the stack isn't really a good thing IMHO. johannes
[sane-devel] Status of the hp4200 backend -- testers needed
Hi, I'd like to make sure the hp4200 backend (sources from the sourceforce hp4200-backend project + Frank Zago's patch) works with libusb. If someone using this backend or owning this scanner is reading this mail, can you please report ? Thanks, JB. -- Julien BLACHE http://www.jblache.org j...@jblache.org GPG KeyID 0xF5D65169
