if you scan with a higher dpi, there is more data to display. it may be
possible for a front-end to be smart enough to scale the image to fit on
your screen no matter the dpi, but this really has nothing to do with
sane. i know for instance, that gqview has options to do just this...

I'm trying to test my Canon LIDE50 scanner with the latest CVS, but all
the scanner does is flash pink, then red, then yellow quickly, then a
continuous white.. Is there anything obvious i'm doing wrong?

I've managed to get sane/xsane working with my Canon LiDE 60.
I did this by compiling the experimental CVS genesys
backend (including Pierre's recent support for the LiDE35/40/50).
Before compilation I replaced every instance of the LiDE 35
USB ID (0x2213) with the USB ID for the LiDE 60
Hi all,
i just wanted to let you know that i finally got the coolscan V working
with Sane :-)) it took a while because the docu is quite twisted to
understand.
I still don't have a patch to provide, because i hardcoded some parameter,
but will get in touch with Andras to get something usable
this is great.! Congrats. Now, how about the NIKON LS-5000? I am waiting
for your driver so that I can start my project, hopefully. Any idea of
where you are at so far?
Hopefully the LS-5000 will work also with the same fixes, didn't check the
specs though, but you'll get to test the patch
Hi,
yes, that seems to be a bug. I'll put you patch into to cvs
the next days.

Hi,
I think I fixed the problem. The SCSI read was returning EOF, and the
driver wasn't incrementing its buffers properly in that case.
When scanning at high resolutions or bit depths, my scanner shoe
shines a lot. I once read about a /proc/scsi trick to increase
some buffer size and avoid the shoe-shining but I can't find it
now. Any ideas ?

Hi,
If scanimage works and the gui frontends don't, the usual cause is
that you have two installations of sane-backend on your system. One is

Hi list,
If one of the folks with write access to CVS would be so kind to
commit the attached diff for doc/external-descriptions/epkowa.desc,
I'd be grateful.
After the commit #302183 can probably be closed.

As I was looking at the code, I noticed that several others of the
reader processes in the fujitsu driver have the same sort of bug. My
scanner isn't invoking them so I didn't write a patch since I can't test
it. But it looked like color and duplex scanners might run into it too.
Thanks,
